The demonstration painting below is of a sunset over the Bodega Headlands

First I laid in a background wash of Lemon Yellow over the whole painting.    After letting the initial wash dry a little, I started introducing secondary washes of Cadmium Yellow, Vermilion and Permanent Magenta.  The new washes created interesting 'blossom' lines, caused by the water of the top washes pushing aside the underlying pigment and etching an irregular line around the inner puddle.

The next step is to warm the sky and water with additional washes of Cadmium Yellow and Vermilion, and to darken the water with touches of Permanent Magenta, Winsor Violet  and finally Cobalt Turquoise

Watch this space for the next step - coming soon!
